In this beautiful world called earth, many groups of people and cultures are living together in
it. With different cultures come different perspectives on things. It will be hard for one to find their own
cultural identity.
Nowadays, people from all around the world can connect with other people more than ever
before. With the help of the internet and technology, humans come together and learn to live together.
Because of that, some cultural elements from different cultures seem to have merged up. And all the
original uniqueness of each culture is decreasing at a rapid state.
I have many experiences with this problem. I’ve been to numerous places around the world that
are well-known for the uniqueness of their culture. For example, Venice city of water it’s known for its
transportation that is nothing but boats. But, when I went to the place I was so surprised because I
saw many people traveling around by car. And another experience I have is the time I went to a
traditional Japanese village in Saitama. The villagers who are known for their strict and Luddite images
are using smartphones to check visitors up. I asked them why are they using phones their answered
me back with a blank expression and said that because it is more convenient for them.
People with the same interest or similar cultural identities can get together easier and can
express themselves more in modern-day society. But with that, people can also struggle to find their
own cultural identity too. The reason is that people tend to change their way of thinking quickly and
have no identity or mind of their own. I also have experience with not knowing my own cultural identity
before. And it is a pretty hard thing not knowing your place in society or not knowing what you like.
As of right now, I know my cultural identity well. It shaped me to become more of myself. I
have an empathic feeling and sympathy toward other people. I also know that I am a part of the
novels and music liking group. I’m interested in the science of the world and many more.
From my perspective, I don’t think that changing cultural identity is a bad thing. Because
sometimes changes are for the better. But people in the culture should preserve the original aspect of
their own. And know the thing that makes them who they are in this world.
