Kitchen

I was inspired to create this piece after being told to "stay in the kitchen" while playing video games. I've been gaming
since a young age, and it has shaped who I am. The social platforms I use, my friends, what I do in my free time,
and my personality are all impacted by gaming. A harsh truth I've come to realize is that, much like in the real world,
women have to work twice as hard to prove themselves. When you achieve a victory, it's considered a fluke or luck.
However, when you lose, people are quick to undermine your skills. It's an uphill battle being a woman in gaming.
It's a constant barrage of demeaning messages and underrepresentation. I made "Kitchen" as I was constantly sick
of being diminished as a player. I find it ironic how gaming is one of the most futuristic fields, yet outdated gender
roles are the basis for all the insults aimed at me. Women can play at the level of men, possibly even better,
but it's the misogynistic aura that deters us. I hope "Kitchen" serves as a reminder that we are more than a stereotype.
