Who I am has a lot to do with my family and my upbringing. For me, my grandpa has played a key role in the way I was brought up, deeply planting my Chinese roots and letting them blossom as I, myself continued to bloom. He has always taught me the importance of being proud of who you are and keeping old school traditions alive for future generations. His calm and collected nature shines through in his simple lifestyle, everyday consists of almost the same things as the day before, and always starting the day off with tea. My grandpa has used the same teapot everyday for the past 26 years, a red traditional Chinese tea set. Growing up with my grandpa, this tea set had always been there. Through conversations, lessons and moments, this red piece of art has sat on the dining table and brewed every moment together, and continues to live on.
