I have walked along the path of a long and winding road all my life. With its constant twists and turns and its sloping hills and bends, there has never been telling what sights, scenery, and experiences this road would bring me. All of the different people we meet and our constant exposure to the world’s plethora of unique cultures have an indefinite effect in molding who we are, as even the most seemingly insignificant winds and rains inevitably erode and shape any road or path. Having attended a culturally diverse international school nestled in the foothills of Chiang Mai, my childhood was spent being exposed to the global cultures of my peers, whilst being simultaneously engulfed in the traditional backdrop of Lanna culture. My experience as a TCK has taught me to embrace the twists and turns of different cultures in the path of life, rather than feeling compelled to strictly adhere and succumb to one. All humans are born at the foot of a path, however, regardless of how many twists, bends, and forks the path may offer, the journey that we take through life is forged purely with our own sheer willpower and the choices we make.
