The theme of this piece is a postcard addressed to all the people who have hurt and doubted me. For a lot of times, my existence has been doubted by many people, usually the same ones who have hurt me. I have been told that I wouldn’t make it far in life being the way I am, and that I should change to accommodate to their likings, yet here I am. I want people who are “concern” about me to know that I am still myself, and I am thriving. Despite all the trauma I’ve been through, I’ve never given up on my passion which is art. I’ve once made a promise to myself to always turn the pain inflicted on me into art, and I’m going to keep expressing my melancholia this way—with cute and colorful stickers, paper scraps and stitches. I believe that the art I create reflects my true identity, and I hope that this submission can show you a piece of the person I am.
