Who We Are

Welcome to The Union International! The Union is Thailand’s 1st Interscholastic Student-run Newspaper. We are a platform and community joined by over 140 staffers from 50 schools and 25 nationalities.

The Union not only unites students across Thailand, Southeast Asia, and globally, but we also offer opportunities in everything from journalism, to design, or business.

What We Publish

The Union publishes articles written by youths on difficult and taboo topics ranging from menstruation, mental health, abortions, political movements, to sexuality. We also publish student life articles about in-school events and academics.

The Union also has a student-led podcast, anonymous forum, and professional advisory board to mentor our staff to become future social-activist journalists.

History of The Union

The Union International was founded in August 2020 by Manyasiri (Pear) Chotbunwong, a student at Ruamrudee International School in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Union has hosted multiple interscholastic events — notably our University Panel and Raise Your Voice: Exploring Youth Identities conference which together has garnered over 200 young participants.

Since then, The Union has also launched The Unity Podcast, a members’ forum, monthly newsletter, and advisory board consisting of professionals who help mentor our staff.

Op-eds: The Union welcomes submissions from individuals. Articles can have between 450-1500 words in total, and
must be edited and looked over before publication. Email the submissions to theunionintl@gmail.com

Comment Policy

We are committed to free and open discussion and debate. However, comments that contain untrue statements,
profanity, attack a particular racial, ethnic, or religious community, disparage people of a certain gender or sexual
orientation, and/or self-promotion will be deleted.

The Union is Bangkok’s first interscholastic, student-run news organization created for international school students
and by international school students. We aim to bridge the gaps between schools, recognize all students’
exceptional talents and efforts, and provide news for all international school students.
