5 Foods For Late Night Cram Sessions

By Boonsiri (Boonboon) Pornjalernchaisilp

As a busy high schooler, you may find yourself working late at night to finish your homework. Although teenagers like us should be getting ready for bed to get that 8 hours of sleep, it’s very understandable if that is not always the case. On those nights when you have to cram-finish all your homework, you’ll probably need to have some bites of snacks to boost your energy.  Your hunger may have brought you to the ‘Tasty’ video on late night snacks for ideas, but we don’t think you’ll have time to bake cookies when your assignment is due at 23:59 pm. Whether you are at a hotel for a school related activity, or you are having a food craving night at home, below are some delicious foods and snacks you can make to help get you through a late night cram session.

Let’s start with the classic: MAMA NOODLES!

Mama noodles might seem like an unhealthy food to eat at night, but they can really help keep you awake. Though it is simple to just mix the different seasonings in, there are many ways to make your own cup of MAMA unique and fun! The first thing you can add to your cup of noodles is eggs. You can either cook your egg before putting it in the noodle cup or cook it with the mama noodles. Another thing you can add to your mama noodles is real pork and vegetables to make it even more healthy and delicious!

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  The peanut butter and jelly sandwich is your go to if you do not want to spend a lot of time on preparing your food. With only 3 ingredients you can prepare this yummy sandwich within 5 minutes!

Directions:

  1. Make sure you have 2 pieces of  bread, jam, and peanut butter
  2. Spread the fruit jam onto one piece bread
  3. Then spread peanut butter onto the other piece
  4. Put the 2 pieces together to form a sandwich
  5. Enjoy!

Tips!

There are also healthy alternatives to yoru PBJ for those who are on diets. Instead of using  white bread, consider switching to a whole grain bread. Using peanut butter with less sugar and using fruit jam that is 100% authentic would also be ideal.

If you are looking for an even healthier choice, yogurt and oatmeal is what you are looking for. Yogurt is rich with vitamins and minerals, and one cup of yogurt can provide you with over 49% of your daily calcium need.  Oatmeal is also beneficial for your health as it can help reduce cholesterol.  It is also easy to make as long as you have all the ingredients. You simply pour your oatmeal or granola bars into your cup of yogurt, and it is as simple as that. To add more flavour to your creamy snack you could also add strawberries, cherries or fruits on top. Within 3-5 minutes you can enjoy healthy snacks that can improve your work performance, even late at night.

Now moving away from solid food, there are also some nice drinks you can make for yourself late at night.  Hot Chocolate is another great drink you can sip while working on your homework.

Like most of the food above, hot chocolate will take away no time from your studying as it will only take about 3 minutes! Hot chocolate contains polyphenols which

help improve blood flow and brain function. This is an absolute ideal boost if you are working on critical assignments that require a lot of brain power. What could be better for your brain late at night, than one soothing cup of hot chocolate?

The final food you can have during late night cram sessions is OREO COOKIE BARS! This is a very easy dessert you can make anywhere and anytime.

Here are the things you need:

  • One 16 oz package of Oreo cookies
  • 5 cups Large marshmallows
  • 4 tablespoons butter

The first thing you need to do is place the Oreos all in the food processor or blender and mix until it is completely smooth. Next, melt the butter and marshmallows into a large bowl until puffed. Finally, put in your ground cookies and mix them together.
